Μουσική ενότητα - Deep Purple



Σήμερα θα μιλήσουμε για ένα από τα πιο αγαπημένα μου συγκροτήματα τους Deep Purple. Θεωρούνται από τους πρωτεργάτες της Hard Rock και ότι έθεσαν τις βάσεις για αυτό που στη συνέχεια θα γινόταν το Heavy Metal. Προσωπικά το κόλλημα μου είναι με την δεύτερη σύνθεση του συγκροτήματος Ian Gillan (Φωνή), Ritchie Blackmore (όποιος ρωτήσει το όργανο έπαιζε θα έχει μπλεξίματα-καλά για τους άσχετους κιθάρα), Roger Glover (μπάσο), Jon Lord (πλήκτρα) και Ian Paice (ντραμς). Με αυτή την μορφή (και μάλλον επειδή κάποιοι -ονόματα δεν λέμε υπολήψεις δεν θίγουμε,  ήταν ο αρχηγός στους Rainbow (αναμείνατε για παρουσίαση)- ήταν λίγο δύσκολοι χαρακτήρες) υπήρξαν για τα διαστήματα 1969-1973, 1984-1989 και 1992-1993. 

Γιατί όμως το συγκρότημα είχε τόσο μεγάλες αλλαγές στην πορεία του; Ο λόγος κατά την γνώμη μου είναι απλός. Και οι πέντε ήταν πολύ καλοί μουσικοί με μεγάλη δημιουργικότητα πράγμα που δημιούργησε μεγάλες δημιουργικές διαφορές. Όπως έδειξε και η μετέπειτα καριέρα των μελών τους, είχαν εξαιρετικά ανεπτυγμένο εγωισμό και αν τους αφήνανε ελεύθερους μπορούσαν να γράψουν και 25 λεπτά σόλο για το όργανο τους πράγμα που α)ήταν βαρετό για το κοινό εν τέλει και β) έκανε τους άλλους μουσικούς που έπρεπε να βαράνε χαλί για μεγάλο διάστημα λίγο εκνευρισμένους.

Τέλος πάντων για να μην μπαίνουμε σε μεγάλες λεπτομέρειες οι Purple είναι από τα πρώτα συγκροτήματα που ακούει ο υποψήφιος μεταλάς/hardrockας στην Ελλάδα. Κάτι οι μεγάλες επιτυχίες όπως το Smoke on the Water ή το Black Nights, κάτι το γεγονός ότι τα Cd τους ήταν σχετικά φτηνά γενικά πάντως στην Ελλάδα είναι από τα πιο γνωστά συγκροτήματα της Hard Rock (τους τρώνε βέβαια λάχανο οι SCORPIONSSSSSSS αφού κάθε καλοκαίρι με τα μπανάκια τους κάνουν και μία συναυλία). 

Σημείωση εδώ οι παλιότεροι ίσως να θυμούνται το Jammin στην ΕΤ3 με πρωταγωνιστή τον Στάθη (που πρέπει να είναι τεράστιος φαν των Purple). Ναι, υπήρχε εποχή που ο Στάθης δεν έλεγε κρύα ανέκδοτα αλλά παρουσίαζε σοβαρότατη εκπομπή για την Hard Rock και Metal... Άτιμη ανεργεία που άλλους τους ανεβάζεις και άλλους τους κατεβάζεις... Μιας και μιλάμε για εποχές προ youtube σε αυτήν την  εκπομπή είδαμε οι λίγο μεγαλύτεροι σκηνές από τα ιστορικά Live των Purple και άλλων σημαντικών συγκροτημάτων.

Ας δούμε όμως μερικά από τα σημαντικότερα/εμπορικότερα τραγούδια τους.

Hush

Κομμάτι από τον πρώτο δίσκο του συγκροτήματος και η πρώτη επιτυχία τους. Γενικά δεν διαφέρει πολύ από τα υπόλοιπα κομμάτια της εποχής. Ευχάριστο cover σε κομμάτι του Joe South που απλά μας δείχνει μερικά στοιχεία που θα βγάζαν πιο μετά στον ήχο τους. Σε πολύ μικρό διάστημα θα αλλάζανε ριζικά τον ήχο τους.

Πολύ γνωστό κομμάτι τους με τον Blackmore και τον Lord να κάνουν παπάδες. Το κομμάτι δίνει πολύ καλά την αίσθηση του live fast die young της εποχής.

Black Nights

Απλά καταπληκτικό κομμάτι. Καθαρή αναφορά στην μοναξιά και στην θέληση του ανθρώπου να γυρίσει πίσω σε γνώριμες καταστάσεις. Εγώ πάντως θυμάμαι να μου έρχεται συνέχεια όταν ήμουνα σκοπιά γερμανικό.

Με μία λέξη ύμνος. Ιστορικά από τις καλύτερες συνδέσεις ανάμεσα σε κιθάρα και πλήκτρα. 10 λεπτά που κάθε άνθρωπος που αγαπάει την ροκ ταξιδεύει.

Κομμάτι που αναφέρεται καθαρά στο ερωτικό πάθος. Σε γενικές γραμμές πολύ καλά δεμένο κομμάτι.

Smoke on the Water

Δεν γίνεται να κάνουμε αναφορά στους Purple με το πιο γνωστό τους κομμάτι. Ένα κομμάτι που οι περισσότεροι κιθαρίστες αγαπάνε να μισούνε. Ο λόγος είναι απλός, το πιο πιασάρικο ριφ που έγινε ποτέ και το οποίο βγαίνει με 3 συγχορδίες και σχεδόν ο κάθε αρχάριος μπορεί να παίξει εύκολα (προσέξτε το ριφ γιατί οι γέφυρες και το σόλο είναι αλλουνού παπά ευαγγέλιο). Το κομμάτι αναφέρεται σε φωτιά που έπιασε κατά την διάρκεια συναυλίας τους και είναι συρραφή εντυπώσεων.

Stormbringer

Τη δεκαετία του 70 είχε μεγάλη επιτυχία στην Αγγλία ο Michael Moorcock κυρίως με τον χαρακτήρα Elric of Menlibonee. Οι περιπέτειες συχνά μοιάζαν με τριπάκια με παραισθησιογόνα και εκ τούτου υπήρξε βασική πηγή έμπνευσης για πολλά συγκροτήματα της εποχής ( φυσικά  και στους Hawkwind που έπαιζε καμιά φορά και ο Moorcock). Οι Purple λοιπόν επηρεασμένοι από το ομώνυμο βιβλίο έγραψαν αυτό το καταπληκτικό κομμάτι που αποδίδει τέλεια το πνεύμα του.

Πολύ γνωστό κομμάτι τους. Οι Purple ήταν από τα πρώτα συγκροτήματα που πήγαν στην χώρα του ανατέλλοντος ηλίου για Live και ο δίσκος made in Japan είναι από τους καλύτερους Live δίσκους.

Η πιο γνωστή τους μπαλάντα. Μου τη σπάει ότι κάποιοι το κατατάσουν πιο ψηλά από όσο θα έπρεπε στην ιεραρχία των κομματιών τους, αλλά τι να κάνουμε που και που πρέπει να ξεκουράζονται οι μουσικοί και εμείς στα παιδικά πάρτυ να χορέψουμε κανά σλόου.

Perfect Strangers

Το εκπληκτικό σε αυτό το κομμάτι είναι ότι δεν έχει σόλο στην κιθάρα! Μάλλον ο Blackmore θα είδε τι θα έπρεπε να παίξει στο κανονικό μέρος και δεν έκανε τα γνωστά του. Προσωπικά πιστεύω ότι αναφέρεται στην διαδικασία αλλαγής/ενηλικίωσης  του ανθρώπου. Στο Νέτι διάβασα ότι οι στίχοι είναι επηρεασμένοι από διηγήματα του Moorcock (πάλι...)

Κάπου εδώ τελειώνει η σύντομη παρουσίαση μου στους Purple.  Ξέρω ότι πολλά κομμάτια τους δεν τα ανάφερα καθόλου και ότι δεν αναφέρομαι καθόλου στην μετά το 85 εποχή. Ο λόγος είναι απλός, για μένα οι Purple είναι η πεντάδα που αναφέρω στην πρώτη παράγραφο με όλες τις δυσλειτουργίες που πιθανόν να είχε.
