Ενότητα Μουσική - Rainbow
Μιας και στην προηγούμενη μουσική παρουσίαση αναφερθήκαμε στους Deep Purple λογική συνέπεια είναι σήμερα να αναφερθούμε στον επόμενο σταθμό στην σταδιοδρομία του Ritchie Blackmore τους Rainbow. Όπως είδαμε στο προηγούμενο post ο Blackmore είχε μεγάλες δημιουργικές διαφορές με τα άλλα μέλη των Purple και το 1975 είπε ,σαν καλή βεντέτα, "καλά παίρνω το κουβαδάκι μου και σε άλλη παραλία". Οι Rainbow λοιπόν δεν ήταν ποτέ ένα στάνταρ σχήμα. Ήταν για το σύνολο της ύπαρξης τους η μπάντα του Blackmore (που ουσιαστικά και πρακτικά έκανε απόλυτο κουμάντο - όταν βγήκε ο πρώτος δίσκος και δεν του άρεσε ο ήχος των ντραμς, ο ντράμερ έφυγε σε χρόνο dt).
Παρόλα αυτά οι συνεργάτες του κατά περιόδους καταφέρνανε ενίοτε να βγάζουν το στίγμα τους και αυτές οι συνεργασίες μας έδωσαν μερικά από τα καλύτερα δείγματα της Hard Rock - Πρώιμης Metal. Για παράδειγμα μέχρι το 1978 φωνή στο συγκρότημα ήταν ο αείμνηστος Ronnie James Dio που κατάφερε να χειριστεί τον Blackmore και μας έδωσαν μερικά άριστα κομμάτια με πολύ επική αίσθηση. Όταν ο Dio έφυγε λόγω "δημιουργικών διαφορών" αντικαταστάτης του σαν νο2 του συγκροτήματος ήρθε ο Roger Glover (ναι από τους Purple) και ο ήχος τους έγινε πολύ πιο εμπορικός (με τα πιο εμπορικά τους κομμάτια όπως το Since you been gone να γράφονται τότε). Οι Rainbow γίνανε μεν πολύ πιο εμπορικοί αλλά αποξένωσαν το αρχικό τους κοινό με τον νέο ήχο. Έτσι λοιπόν όταν το 1984 έγινε η προσπάθεια να ξανασυναντηθούν οι κλασικοί Purple, οι Rainbow που ήταν ουσιαστικά η Blackmore και ΣΙΑ ΕΕ με την φυγή του Blackmore κλείσανε τις πόρτες του στούντιο και βάλανε λουκέτο. Επανασυστήθηκαν το 1995-1998 αλλά η δεύτερη περίοδος δεν μας έδωσε πολλά, ήταν περισσότερο ένα σχήμα για να κάνει ο Blackmore live. Γενικά όμως βλέπετε ότι δεν αναφέρομαι πολύ στους άλλους μουσικούς (αν και έπαιξε σχεδόν όλη η Αγγλική ροκ σκηνή της δεκαετίας του 70 σε αυτούς) γιατί σε κάθε δίσκο είχαν και άλλη σύνθεση.
Ο ήχος γενικά των Rainbow λόγω Blackmore κυρίως χαρακτηρίζεται από πολύ δυναμική κιθάρα, αλλά και με εμφανείς επιρροές από κλασσική και μεσαιωνική μουσική. Δεν είναι τυχαίο ότι οι πρώτοι τους δίσκοι θεωρούνται από τις βασικότερες επιρροές του πρώιμου Metal. Ας δούμε λοιπόν μερικά από τα αγαπημένα μου κομμάτια τους.

Πρώτο τραγούδι στον πρώτο τους δίσκο και ήδη από την εισαγωγή σε έχει πιάσει. Απίστευτο ριφ και γέφυρες. O Dio δίνει ένα πολύ επικό τόνο σε ένα κομμάτι που πολλοί μου έχουν πει ότι τους θυμίζει σε γενικές γραμμές το Smoke on the Water, προσωπικά το θεωρώ πολύ καλύτερο...

Από τα πιο γνωστά-άγνωστα κομμάτια. Είναι από τα κομμάτια που οι ηχολήπτες αρέσκονται στο να βάζουν σαν "χαλί" σε εκπομπές λόγου. Μπαλάντα και αυτό αλλά το βασικό του προσόν είναι ότι είναι από τα πρώτα πραγματικά επικής θεματολογίας τραγούδια. Δεν υπάρχουν και πολλά άλλα που μπορείς να πεις για τον ύμνο.

Σήμερα θα πρωτοτυπίσω και θα βάλω και κομμάτι που γράφτηκε μετά το 1990! 1995 λοιπόν βγαίνει και αυτή η διασκεύη στο Hall of the Mountain King από τον Peer Gynt του Edvard Grieg. Επειδή μου αρέσουν αυτές οι "βλασφημίες¨ σας το προτείνω.

Στους Rainbow δεν μπορώ να είμαι απόλυτα αντικειμενικός. Το Best of τους ήταν ένα από τα πρώτα CD που αγόρασα και έτσι τους βλέπω πάντα λίγο με τα ρομαντικά γυαλιά της αναπολήσεως, Κατά τα άλλα είναι σίγουρα ένα από τα πιο ενδιαφέροντα αγγλικά συγκροτήματα των 70s-80s και ειδικά οι μεταλάδες την πρώτη περίοδο με Dio-Blackmore θα πρέπει να την ακούσουν έστω για τους ιστορικούς λόγους.
